Information for Competitors

Aims of the Irish Ballroom & Waltzing Federation (IBWF)
- To encourage couples to participate in Competitive & Social dancing
To facilitate this aim;
- Complimentary membership may be received once to couples who wish to enter the competitive Syllabus section.
- Names and addresses are to be given to the event organisers on admission to the event
Future competitions
- Temporary membership is provided once only
- Perpetual Trophies will not be awarded to temporary or Complimentary Competitors.
- All competitive dancers are requested to pay full membership which entities them to collect perpetual Trophies should they win 1st place in any of the selected syllabus categories,
- Be included in the Dancer of the Year awards and be kept informed of all activities within the IBWF
- Membership is payable to Treasurer or Hon. Secretary
Dress Code
- Beginners, Advanced Beginners are to wear lounge wear only
- Novice dancers may wear either lounge wear or full dress depending on the preference of the couple
- Full dress is optional from Intermediate level.
Restrictions
- Syllabus Competitors, Dance Teachers/ Instructors may not compete in any of the social dance sections with the exception of the Lottery Dance
